Agriturismo San Cataldo Farm Home

We we unable to rent a car, but Filippo was an incredible host in arranging all our transportation so that we could have a good trip, even driving us back to the bus station himself when we checked out. I really appreciated all his assistance. The agriturismo is exactly as I had hoped, quiet cabins up in the mountains, far from any other towns, with an incredible view of Mt Etna. The multi-course Sicilian dinners prepared by Rita on their own are a good enough reason to stay here. Nearly all the food is grown and prepared there at the agriturismo, and it is all so fresh and flavorful! The only downside is that the rooms are basic, and the shower was very small.

Good if you want to stay in accommodation surrounded by nature. But the road leading to it is quite difficult and rather long and not convenient at all if you want to leave the property to buy some daily needs. Breakfast starts late at 8.30am and is rather poor consisting of some baked beans, sausages and scrambled eggs that you would expect more in the UK rather than Sicily, except for the cakes which were all served fresh daily. Philip also does his best to deal with requests in a pleasant way. However forget about having a good cappuccino, a fresh croissant or cannolo and they only serve thin sliced bread to make a toast. At night dinner is served quite early at 7.30pm and by 10pm you basically need to leave the restaurant. At 11pm the lights are switched off and you need torches to go out of the room should you need to. The rooms are nice country huts and they feel cosy. But the bathrooms should be changed.
